The educational works of Don Bosco in Cambodia, support young people from rural areas and impoverished communities in different programs based in Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Kep, Poipet and other Cambodian provinces. The programs consist basically of technical skills like electricity, mechanic, automotive, printing, electronics, computers, IT, social communication, hotel skills and secretariat.
Instructors are chosen from the same body of past pupils in more than 20 years of experience in Cambodia. The contribution of hundreds of volunteers in the Don Bosco Cambodian schools has been a very important way to develop the quality of the technical education. Native or foreign volunteers usually join the Don Bosco mission in Cambodia through other organizations that guarantee their travel, stay, insurance and other needs.
Volunteers in Don Bosco schools must be persons who like education and attention to the young.
They must know that our organization depend on charity, so we cannot afford salaries, especially for foreign personnel. In many cases we can provide a dignified place to stay and the meals.
For the Don Bosco schools the volunteer must have also a kind of reference proving his/her qualities as a person ready to interact with young people, with the Cambodian culture and language and working in team with the different statements of Don Bosco.
The volunteer must be a person with a sense of adventure, ready to make him/herself in the Cambodian environment and the limits of the organization. Health is very important. Conscious that this is a tropical country.
Coming to help, not to ask for help for himself or herself. The volunteer donates his/her time to Don Bosco, meaning a donation to the young people, facilitating their improvement as persons and their skill.

The official language for foreign volunteers at the Don Bosco schools is English. Volunteers doing the effort to learn some Khmer are especially appreciate. If your English is little, but you want to share your experience with our Cambodian youth, please do not hesitate in contact us. We can find solutions to break the language barrier, thanks also to the technologies.

According to the list, you can see that we need rather professional volunteers or experts in a specific area.
- You can be a young volunteer after you finish the high school. If you come from an English speaking country, you can be an English teacher or if you like mathematics and you feel you can teach it, please apply.
- You can be a pensioner after you worked years as a mechanic... well, young men will appreciate if you can share your experience with them for a period of time.
There is not a limit of time at all. It depends of your case. We appreciate that any volunteer experience will not be inferior to three months. However, we have had volunteers for a couple of weeks doing especial seminars or workshops and creating a great improvement for our students.
What we can offer...
Keep in mind that we are a humanitarian organization depending on funds. We don't have a budget to cover things like travels from your country, international insurance, medicine and things like that. If you are affiliated to a volunteer organization, it is probably that your organization has agreements over those issues.
Normally, when we accept a volunteer, we can offer for this person a bedroom and the meals. If there is a special travel inside Cambodia that is related with his/her work, it is also covered.
